Producer - Urgently Required

The Talking Newspaper offers a free service of local news and information for blind and visually impaired people living in Havant Borough. Recorded fortnightly, articles are taken from the Portsmouth News and other sources including Hayling Islander and community newsletters.

The service is provided entirely by volunteers.

Producers are a vital part of the operation. A team of editors provide the producer with a selection of well chosen articles. From these the Producer puts together a programme for recording. The Producer is the person who determines the content and balance of the finished paper and also works with the readers and engineers on the recording evening to ensure the final quality.

Working on a rota system a Producer will be called on once every 6 weeks to fulfil the role. Full training given but volunteer must have the ability to cope with the role


Good level of education, creative ability

Full training given but must have general skills suited to the role.

Any experience in marketing, desktop publishing, media equipment, media publications or previous experience of working witht the visually impaired would be helpful for the role.
