Hospice Friends Companions

Have you 2-3 hours a week to spare?

Hospice Friends are a network of trained volunteers called companions who are willing to offer their time, companionship and support to people living at home coping with life limiting illness and who are lonely. Our service aims to offer one to one companionship to people, helping them get through difficult times and staying connected to their community. In addition there is an element of practical support to help with small everyday tasks both in and out of the home.

We hope that you will provide a valuable link between the home and hospice and can make a difference to someone’s life through a mutually beneficial relationship.

We need you to be a good communicator and an active listener who enjoys meeting people. You should have empathy, respect the diversity of others and have a positive caring attitude.

We can offer you some initial training, ongoing support and a big thank you.
