Healthy Families Volunteer

Barnardo’s believes in children regardless of their circumstances, gender, race, disability or behaviour. Our purpose as a charity today is to transform the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children.

We believe in the abused, the most vulnerable, the forgotten and the neglected. We will support them, stand up for them and bring out the best in each and every child. We do this because we believe that every child deserves the best start in life and the chance to fulfill their potential.

With the right help, committed support and a little belief, even the most vulnerable children can turn their lives around. Barnardo’s is regulated by the Charity Commission. Being a registered charity means that we must always be accountable and transparent.

Project information: The Hampshire Healthy Families service will help families build healthy futures for their children aged 0-5 years. We will map what is already out there for families; and help parents and carers find groups and activities close to home and suitable for their child’s needs.

The Barnardo’s team will promote strong attachment and healthy child development through positive activities, play and outreach – roadshows, group activities and training for other professionals working with children.

Barnardo’s will work with the Health Visiting Team to increase their community support groups such as Ready, Steady Mums (get fit and socialise) and Knowing me, Knowing You (a group for women with low mood and anxiety after the birth of their baby). Barnardo’s will also help to develop new groups and activities for families by speaking to the local community and listening to what parents need and want in their area.

Various locations in Hampshire (Gosport & Fareham, Basingstoke, Hart & Rushmoor, Andover/Winchester, New Forest, Romsey & Eastleigh, Havant, and East Hants. including Petersfield.)
