Conservation Volunteers

We are a local residents group who volunteer to maintain the Hermitage Stream and surrounding green spaces. Our aim is to look after the stream for wildlife as well as make it a place where people can enjoy and learn about nature. We carry out conservation/woodland management tasks across 3 areas within Havant area, including tidying along the stream, Himalayan Balsam pulling, cutting back of small trees, brambles and clearing small glades for animal habitats.  We also hold community events in the summer encouraging children to build insect and small animal habitats and do some pond dipping.  We hope to encourage more work with schools when we have a suitable volunteer to liaise with schools.  Thursday mornings and during the summer occasional Saturdays for community activities/events.

No particular skills required, just enthusiasm and an enjoyment of nature and woodland.

This is practical work helping to clear weeds around the stream, cutting back of brambles and shrubbery and clearing areas for animal habitats
