Explore is an educational charity whose purpose is to enable school and college students to explore issues concerning long-term relationships and marriage. This is achieved through married couples sharing the unique experience and story of their own marriage (the high and the low points) in response to questions from the students supported by an Adviser Coach.
Explore has 2 major resources: hourly sessions where a group of 18 - 25 young people meet a married couple in a classroom as part of their RE/PSHE syllabus. The second resource is the Half Day Conference lasting about 3 hours and involving a whole year group (100 - 200 students) meeting 2 or 3 married couples.
At the end of the one hour session or Half Day Conference, the young people should have a much better idea of what it takes to have a successful relationship/marriage.
The role of the Adviser-Coach is to create the best conditions for the dialogue between the young people and the couple to take place and, following the dialogue, to help the students evaluate what they have heard and discussed.
Skills
Counselling, diplomacy and ability to interface with young people helping them to explore the realities of marriage.
